Cap Style Hard Hats
Cap-style hard hats feature a short front brim that provides overhead protection without restricting upward visibility. Type 1 indicates the hard hat protects against impacts to the top of the head. Class E (Electrical) means the hard hat is tested to provide protection against electrical contact up to 2,200 volts. All Malta Dynamics hard hats are Type 1 Class E certified, making them suitable for general construction and work near low-voltage electrical equipment.
Yes. Our full-brim hard hats include accessory slots that accept standard face shields and helmet-mounted earmuffs. This allows you to build a complete head, face, and hearing protection system without wearing separate equipment. Cap-style hard hats are compatible with earmuffs but require a full brim for face shield attachment.
Replace your hard hat immediately after any significant impact, even if no visible damage is present. For hard hats that haven't sustained impacts, most manufacturers recommend replacement every 2-5 years, depending on exposure to sunlight, extreme temperatures, and chemicals. Check the manufacture date stamped inside the shell and note the new date when you replace it. Inspect regularly for cracks, dents, fading, or suspension wear, and install replacement padding or sweatbands as needed to maintain comfort and hygiene.
Traditional hard hats (Type 1) protect against impacts to the top of the head only. Safety helmets (Type 2) provide multi-directional protection against impacts to the top, front, back, and sides. If your crew faces lateral impact hazards from swinging loads, low clearances, or slip and fall risks, consider upgrading to Type 2 safety helmets for more comprehensive coverage.
Economy polyester shields are lightweight and cost-effective for general debris protection. Acetate shields offer better chemical resistance and optical clarity. Tritan shields provide the highest impact resistance and are heat-formed for better coverage. Match your face shield material to the specific hazards on your job sites.
